El nuevo trabajo de Beautiful South se titula 'Painting it red'.

El álbum, que saldrá el día 9 de octubre, ha sido grabado en los estudios Real World de Peter Gabriel en Londres, con las colaboraciones de Fatboy Slim, y Norman Cook.

El disco incluye 18 temas, de los 26 que inicialmente grabaron, con canciones con títulos como 'Hit parade', 'The river', 'You can call me leisure', 'Mediterranean', 'Chicken wings', o 'Closer than most' que será el primer single.

Los dos últimos álbums de Beautiful South, 'Blue is the color' (96) con el single 'Perfect 10', y 'Quench' (98) con el tema 'Rotterdam', fueron número 1 en Gran Bretaña.
